As we step into June, we enter a season of transition — from the scorching heat of summer toward the anticipation of monsoons. Nature, in her own way, urges us to cleanse, cool down, and reconnect — with our bodies, minds, and communities.
This blog is a gentle reminder that health, beauty, and societal wellness are deeply intertwined — and the first week of June offers us the perfect moment to realign.
1. Health is Harmony, Not Just the Absence of Disease
In Ayurveda, health (Swasthya) is defined as a state of equilibrium among Doshas (body energies), Agni (digestive fire), Dhatus (tissues), and Malas (waste), along with a blissful state of the soul, mind, and senses. (Sushruta Samhita, Sutrasthana 15.41)
Healthy Tips to Begin June Mindfully:
Morning Detox Ritual
Begin your day with a glass of warm water infused with lemon and a few tulsi leaves. This gently stimulates digestion and supports liver detoxification. Drink this before brushing your teeth to allow oral enzymes to assist in digestion.
- Eat According to the Season (Ritucharya)
Choose cooling and hydrating foods like cucumber, coconut water, ash gourd juice, watermelon, mint, and buttermilk. Avoid fermented, deep-fried, and spicy foods. Charaka Samhita recommends light, easily digestible food in Grishma Ritu (summer). - Balance Heat with Sheetali & Pranayama
Practice Sheetali Pranayama (cooling breath) and Nadi Shodhana daily to balance pitta and calm the nervous system.
Example: 5 minutes of this practice each morning improves mental clarity and reduces acidity and irritability.
2. Beauty Reflects Internal Balance
Beauty in Ayurveda is known as Saundarya, which arises naturally from inner health, purity of thoughts, and harmony in lifestyle.
Radiance Tips for Glowing Skin & Hair in June:
- Aloe-Rose Water Mist for Skin
Mix fresh aloe vera pulp with rose water, refrigerate, and use as a mist. This hydrates, cools, and reduces inflammation.
Tip: Apply on sun-exposed areas after returning home.
Triphala for Clear Skin - Take 1 tsp Triphala powder with lukewarm water at bedtime (unless contraindicated). It gently detoxifies, supports bowel movement, and promotes skin clarity.
Triphala balances all three doshas and is an age-old Rasayana. - Hair Rinse with Amla & Hibiscus Tea
Boil dried amla, hibiscus petals, and curry leaves, cool, and use as a final rinse after shampoo. This strengthens roots and prevents summer hair fall. - Face Glow with Ubtan
Make a DIY pack with besan, sandalwood powder, turmeric, and milk. Apply twice a week for natural exfoliation and glow.
