Andman & Nicobar : An Emerald of Ayurveda Tourism

A trip to Andaman makes me want to stay back. In the middle of Nowhere , the Andaman & Nicobar are a group of 572 picturesque Islands, big and small, inhabited and uninhabited. Its always been a personal favourite because it ensured I got at least two marks in map marking in a Geography. Since there was nothing around it, there was noting to get confused with. So when the opportunity to go to the Andamans came up, all the geography classes raced through my mind. There was just one catch of journey, There are a few ways of reaching Port Blair, the capital of the Union territory in the Andaman Island, The first and fastest is by air. One can fly by Civil commercial flights to Port blair from Chennai and from Kolkata. The landing to the island is real life time experience. The ships are also available from Chennai, Kolkata or Visakhapatnam. The voyage takes around

50-60 hours to reach Portblair.

The green island in Bay of Bengal gives a vision of emarld in Blue Sea and the vegetation has medicinal values and it gives the impact of precious gem which is green in colour. This island is specially precious for India as well as for whole medical world. To highlight this value and vulnerability of Car Nicobar is well tried to encapsulated in this monograph which basically reveals the position of this island. Southernmost point of the India is Indirapoint which is located at the end of Great Nicobar of Nicobar Islands. Carnicobar Island in the Nicobar group of Islands is green gem elevated from the sea level and almost having same plinth. It is amazing that this is the island where sweet drinking water is available in natural form and in plenty.

The earthquake on 24 th -25 th Dec. 2004 which shook the complete Andamans and Nicobar Islands even shook me and gave me jitters sitting at Delhi, It could be imagine the agony which the tribals might have suffered in their most holy and auspicious festival.Songs and Dances are the part of their culture. Cleanliness is the hall-mark of their residential areas. Football is the most popular game (mind you, they have won Subroto Cup also ), however Canoe-racing, Volleyball, Cycling are also very popular. Medical facility is very much limited but the wisdom of medicine from the herbal, animal and marine resources

which are abundant in this archipelago. This potentials are to be needed to develop a broad spectrum of AYUSH tourism .The human being tribals and the treasure of medicinal plants reflects this island as a gem of green vegetation of medical concerned in the form of emarld and has motivated me to write this monograph.
